This article explains how Deel clients who have enabled Deel HR can build a customized time-off policy for their employees.
Once you create your time-off policy, your managers will be able to accept and reject worker time-off requests on the Deel platform.
See our Frequently Asked Questions for more information.

✅ Step 1 – Select Worker Type
You can either create a policy for All Worker Types or Selected Worker Types.
✅ Step 2 – Assign country
You can create a policy that will apply to workers of all countries of employment, or selected countries of employment.
If you choose Selected Countries, select the countries that you want to include in your policy from the dropdown menu.
✅ Step 3 – Add details and description
Name your time-off policy and provide additional details or a description, if you wish.
✅ Step 4 – Select annual time-off allowance
You can choose a Limited or Unlimited time-off policy.
Limited: Workers can request time-off but are limited by a maximum number of annual PTO days. You will enter the number of permitted time-off days annually.
Unlimited: Workers can request as much time-off as they want, without being restricted by a set number of PTO days.

You must also decide how frequently the worker's time-off balance will be calculated and accrued. Time off can accrue: Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly, or Yearly.
You can enable your workers to take paid time off before the days have accrued (i.e. carrying a negative balance)
You can also toggle on the option to allow workers to carry over unused time to the following year.
✅ Step 5 – Add reasons for requests
Select the reasons that workers will be able to give when requesting time-off.
You can add customized reasons by clicking Other, and then typing a new request reason.
Click Add New Reason.
✅ Step 6 – Assign roles for request approvals
Select which manager will receive notifications whenever a worker time-off request is made. This manager will be responsible for approving or denying requests.
✅ Step 7 – Click Publish Policy
