This article explains how clients can create and save a customized template for adding Global Payroll or Deel HR employees and contractors.
Clients can input their own text into our editor and add customized variables to the Employee Agreement. These variables will auto-fill when clients use the template in the future to create a new contract for a Global Payroll direct employee or an independent contractor.
How to Create a Custom Employee Agreement Template
✅ Step 1 - Go to Organization Settings
✅ Step 2 - Select the Custom Documents box
Click View to custom contract templates and documents that can be requested from workers.
✅ Step 3 - Click Create Document
New direct employees can still complete their onboarding before they upload the requested custom documents.
✅ Step 4 – Select Create Custom Employee Agreement
✅ Step 5 – Create a custom Employee Agreement Template
First, name and describe the template for future use, and add any optional tags for easier reference.
Then click Create Template.

Clients can include dozens of customizable variables in the new Employee Agreement template.
Variables include job title, seniority, start date, annual salary, annual vacation days policy, vacation accrual start date, and many more.

These variables will be auto-filled when the client selects this template to create an employee contract, using the information provided for the new employee.

✅ Step 7 – Select Custom EA during contract creation
The agreement template has been successfully created! Clients can view their templates in Organization Settings under the Custom Document card or by navigating to the Documents tab, under the People icon, and selecting the Agreement Templates tab.
This template can now be used to hire new workers during the Add People / Create Contract process at the Compliance step.
Select the custom agreement that will be used for the new direct employee.
