A levelling structure is a framework used to organize job roles and employee positions within an organization based on criteria like skills, experience, responsibilities, and performance.
A career framework is a set of career paths within an organization that uses the same leveling structure. It defines the progression routes for various roles within teams or departments, ensuring clear and structured career development.
For instance, in an Engineering department, there might be different career paths for backend engineers and frontend engineers but each path would use the same leveling framework, such as Junior Engineer, Engineer, Senior Engineer, and Lead Engineer.
This article explains how clients can set up leveling structures and career frameworks that align with both organizational goals and employee aspirations.
Before You Begin
- Must be a Deel Engage admin.
- Must have Deel Engage enabled on organization.
- Must have Career turned on under Deel Engage
Step 1. Create leveling structures
Deel Engage Admins can set global leveling structures that only they can edit.
To create leveling structures:
1. Go to Engage > Career > Leveling structure.
2. Click Create leveling structure.
In the New leveling structure modal, customize the following details:
a. Title - To easily identify the level
b. Color - To differentiate from other levels
c. Description - To explain what that particular level means for an organization.
3. Click Create.
Once a level is created, it's now possible to add seniority levels to it.
For each seniority level, a title, description, label seniority level number is mandatory.
Step 2. Add career framework
After finalizing leveling structures, career frameworks can now be added.
To add career frameworks:
1. Go to Engage > Career > Frameworks.
2. Click Create framework.
In the New framework modal, enter the framework name - which is required, and an optional description.
3. Click Create to complete the process.
