Can users relocate with Hofy equipment?
At Hofy, we celebrate remote workers and the freedom that comes along with being able to work from anywhere in the world. Part of this freedom includes allowing our customers to order equipment in one location and relocate within the same customs region (i.e. to move within Europe or from one US state to another).
[ACCORDION] What happens if a user relocates with Hofy equipment?
If a team member moves with their equipment, Hofy will need to have an updated address and local phone number on the platform. Please log onto the Hofy platform to edit the address and/or phone number. Under the user 'Profile,' you will see the option to 'Edit profile' below the team member's personal details on the left-hand side.
Hofy equipment can move freely across the EU, within the United Kingdom or around the United States. If the relocation has taken place within the same customs region, then there will be no additional charges when collecting the equipment back to Hofy.
[ACCORDION] Why can't we move equipment from one customs region to another?
While Hofy does allow for the relocation of equipment, it is important to share the potential issues that can be encountered and how to best avoid them. Hofy's rental fees account for relevant taxes, duties, and currency exchange costs for the region where the equipment is initially sent. Moving from one customs region to another may incur significant costs or may impact our ability to recover the equipment.
Depending on the country your team member has relocated to, the end of contract options may differ slightly.
[ACCORDION] Recovery options from a different customs region
Point-to-Point Transfers:
If you have a team member in need of equipment in the new customs region that your equipment has been moved to, we can redistribute the equipment as a point-to-point transfer. You may be charged shipping fees to return the equipment to its original customs region to facilitate your transfer request.
Store & Reuse Service:
To ease the challenges of a global and mobile workforce, Hofy has introduced a Store and Reuse service to allow organisations to make the most of their active equipment contracts. If your team member has relocated to one of the countries where this service is available, we may have two options for recovering your equipment:
- Zone 1: Collect from a select list of countries and reuse within the UK, Europe or USA.
- Local and in-region storage: Store and reuse in the same country or customs region.
Hofy is working to expand the countries where this service is available as we strive to increase the flexibility of options available for your contracts. Refer to our current country offering for Zone 1 and/or local and in-region storage, here.
Please note that organisations are still liable to pay the shipping fees, even when using our Store and Reuse service. This is because if a team member relocates, and the device is not usable in its current location for reasons such as it has a different keyboard and/or power adapter, we will need to return it back to its original location.
[ACCORDION] Your options when equipment cannot be redistributed or stored
If the equipment can't be redistributed or collected for our Store & Reuse service, the organisation may be required to cancel the contract and have Hofy collect the equipment or to pay a purchase fee.
As a way to avoid the above scenarios, we can alternatively collect any Hofy items that the relocating team member currently has in their possession prior to moving, and either:
- Collect the equipment for Store and Reuse, where available
- Redistribute the equipment to a team member within the original customs region
- Cancel the contract(s)
The team members can then order new equipment once they’ve relocated to the new customs region.
