This article explains how clients can transition EOR (Employer of Record) employees to Global Payroll.
A Global Payroll employee, also known as a Direct Employee - Payroll, is an employee hired and paid through Deel's Global Payroll service. These employees are employed directly by the company utilizing this service, rather than through an Employer of Record arrangement.
How to Initiate a Transition
✅ Step 1 - Select the worker to be transitioned
From the homepage, go to the People icon, select the All People tab, and click the EOR employee to be transitioned.
✅ Step 2 - Initiate the transition
Click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner and select Change Worker Type.
This option can also be accessed from the Contracts page.
✅ Step 3 -Select the worker type
Select the option Direct Employee Global Payroll, review the details, and click Start.
✅ Step 4 - Provide the new contract Information
Clients will be asked to provide:
- Employee’s personal details – This information will be pre-filled using data from the existing contract. Please review and ensure it's correct.
- Job details – Some information here will also be pre-filled. Please review it and confirm its accuracy.
- Compensation and dates – The compensation will be the same as it was under the EOR contract, but it can be changed if needed. Additionally, the start date for the new contract must be one day after the EOR contract ends to ensure continuous employment.
- Compliance documents - if applicable
- Benefits and extras – Background checks, equipment managed through Deel IT and coworking memberships are automatically migrated to the new contract unless otherwise specified.
✅ Step 5 - Review the details and click Continue.
The worker type change has been requested.
What Happens Next?
Once the client requests the change, the employee will need to complete onboarding for the new contract and submit a resignation for the existing EOR contract to be terminated. This step is essential to change the worker type, and the employee's signature will be required to finalize the process.
Clients and workers can track the progress of the transition using the transition tracker available in the worker’s profile. Once the employee submits their resignation, clients will be notified and will have two business days to review and acknowledge the resignation letter. If no action is taken within this timeframe, the resignation will be automatically processed.
