Someone else can sign a Deel contract on the client's behalf through a process known as delegate signing. Delegates can sign on a clients behalf with or without a Deel account. The invitation to have someone else sign on the contract is sent via email and initiated from the Signature Status section of the contract in Deel.
This delegate signor option is currently available for clients creating independent contractor (IC), Direct Employee Payroll (Global Payroll), and HRIS contracts.
The invitation to sign the contract as a delegate will be sent as an email via the Deel platform. Once the client signature is completed by the client or their delegate, the contractor will be invited to sign and activate the contract.
✅ Step 1 - Create contract
Create the worker contract. Under Signature Status, select Invite someone else to sign.
✅ Step 2 - Enter delegate information
Enter the delegate's name and email address (required) and optionally include a message.
For added security, clients also also opt to check in the box to Require SMS Authentication before the delegate can access the contract and sign.
Select Continue. After reviewing the delegate invitation details, select Send Invite.
✅ Step 3 - Invitee receives email & signs
The invitee will receive an email to review & sign on behalf of the contract creator.
The contract will be held in Awaiting Client Signature status until the client or their delegate signs. Clients can access the contract in process at any time to review their signature delegate invite(s) and status.
Once the contract has been signed on the client's side (by the client themselves or their delegate) Deel will automatically invite the employee to review and sign the contract. Neither the client or their delegate will need to manually send an invite to the employe after their delegate signs.
