First of all, let us take a second to welcome you to Deel - we are glad to have you on board!
If you prefer watching a video, here it is:
The first step - sign up to Deel
Signing up to Deel is easy and takes just a few steps. First, you should fill in your basic information and select the option to get paid by clients as a contractor (individual or entity). If you accidentally sign up as a client, you can switch to the contractor profile from your account settings. If you need a bit more help, look at our sign-up tutorial.
Deel account verification
Deel works directly with banks and your favorite payment providers, and because of that, we need to perform KYC (Know Your Customer) verification. It's a process where we verify the identity of a user and mitigate the potential risks of illegal intentions.
Here's more about the verification process.
Signing your Deel contract
Your client will likely have already sent you a Deel contract to sign. Please review the details and sign it with your digital signature directly on Deel. If you create the contract yourself, these tutorials can help you do that.
How each Deel contract works:
Fixed contract
If you have a fixed contract, you will get paid in the payment cycles you and the client agreed on (weekly, bi-weekly, every other week, or monthly). The payment cycle and the pay date are listed in the contract.
Pay as you go contract
If you have a pay-as-you-go contract, you will need to submit your hours before your client can issue the payment. You can also use the "Adjust" feature to add a bonus, expense, overtime, and other adjustment types for each payment. Your client can approve the hours, add a bonus, and update hours by CSV upload (if applicable). Make sure to submit hours before the payment due date to be included in the respective payment cycle. If the "Only the client can submit work" option is enabled, you may not submit work.
Milestone contract
If you have a milestone contract, you and your client can break down the project into milestones and assign a payment amount to each of them. Then, when a milestone is approved, the payment can be processed.
Withdrawing from your Deel balance
Your balance will be available on your payday (based on the contract). Once you request a withdrawal, it will usually take 1-5 business days for the funds to clear and appear on your account (this depends on the payment method you chose). Withdrawals that need to be processed through SWIFT can take as many seven business days to appear in your account. You can add your withdrawal method in the Account Settings beforehand to save time. You can also add it when you withdraw money for the first time.
You can set an automatic withdrawal to fast-track the process. Go to Account Settings > Withdrawal Methods and click on the toggle to enable automatic withdrawal. Your balance will automatically clear every time a new balance is available.
Receiving money in local currencies
Deel has multiple currency wallets. You can withdraw funds in 120+ different currencies. Check if your local currency is supported the next time you withdraw. We can process a local payout with minimal transaction costs, thanks to our payment processing partners.
Withdraw early
You will see the Withdraw Early button on your contract page a few days before payment is due. When you click on it, you will get paid instantly, even on weekends and holidays. This feature is currently not available for all users, but we are expanding it to everyone in the future.
Filling in tax forms (W-9, W-8BEN, or W-8BEN-E)
If you work with clients from the US, you will be asked to fill in a W-9 Form (if you are a US citizen) or a W-8BEN(E) Form (if you are a non-US citizen).
Deel compliance documents collection
When clients create contracts, they can request that the contractor submit compliance documentation according to their country's regulations. Each contractor will then be notified about the request and asked to upload the documents.
We strongly encourage you to upload your compliance documents as soon as possible. Compliance documents ensure that you are meeting local laws and standards.
