What is Two Factor Authentication?
For security, we strongly request adding two-factor authentication (2FA) when logging into an account. This may also be required when performing other sensitive actions.
Two factor authentication (2FA) is a method of establishing access to an online account or computer system that requires the user to provide two different types of information.
Enabling 2FA is an important way to increase security while using a Deel account. It adds an extra level of protection to make sure only the owner has access to their data and transfers.
Why Does Deel Recommend Two Factor Authentication With an Authenticator App?
The reason is simple: 2FA via an authenticator app gives the account the highest level of security.
From a smartphone, it is possible to download an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Authy, Dashlane, or Microsoft Authenticator via the App Store or Google Play.
An authenticator app will generate a unique code every 30 seconds. It is twice as secure as sending a code via SMS.
Setting up 2FA via Authenticator App When Creating an Account
✅ Step 1 – Secure the account
After completing the profile and entering the personal details, securing the new account is necessary.
It is strongly recommended to set up two-factor authentication (2FA) using an authenticator app.
Click Set Up Now to get started.
✅ Step 2 – Install the authenticator app
If an authenticator app is not already installed on the smartphone, one can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play, such as Google Authenticator, Authy, Dashlane, or Microsoft Authenticator.
Follow the setup instructions on the phone.
The availability of certain authenticator apps may vary depending on the location and operating system.
✅ Step 3 – Scan the QR code
To enable 2FA, scan the QR code to link the authenticator app from the phone to the Deel account.
If unable to scan the QR code, click Can't Scan The QR Code? and instead, enter the security key into the authenticator app.
✅ Step 4 – Enter code
Enter the 6-digit code from the authenticator app, and then click Enable.
Please see our FAQs for more details on accessing the account.

Smartphone screen:
If the smartphone is not available or the code from the authenticator app cannot be accessed, it is possible to choose to have a One-Time Password (OTP) sent to the email or opt to have the OTP sent to the backup email, if one has been set up.
If unable to change the email or reset the 2FA, schedule a live video call with Deel Support to receive further assistance in accessing the account.
