Cost center names and descriptions in a client’s HRIS software may change a few times per month. These changes are usually caused by:
- A cost center being repurposed
- Business restructuring and the need to align cost centers
- Typos or errors when creating a cost center
When these updates happen, they need to be tracked and aligned on Deel.
This article explains how clients can set up cost center syncs between Deel and their HRIS software.

Before you begin
To complete this guide, make sure to have:
- An admin role in Deel
- An admin role in the third-party system that you want to sync cost centers from
- The integration to the third-party system already connected
- Mapping of the cost center name and cost center field already done.
How to set up a cost center sync
To sync a cost center:
Step 1. Go to Organization Settings, locate the Entities card, and click View.
Step 2. Select the entity you want to set up the sync for, then go to the Global Payroll tab.
Step 3. In the Cost centers card, click Add.
Step 4. On the Add cost center dialog, select Sync cost centers, then click Next.
Step 5. On the modal Do you want to continue the sync?, click Yes, continue.
The cost center sync is set up. From now, cost center information will be synced directly from the third-party HRIS software.
How to refresh a cost center sync
To refresh a cost center, locate the Cost centers card and click Refresh.
How to stop a cost center sync
After setting up a cost center sync, clients may need to stop the cost center from syncing. This is useful when, for example, they want to sync cost centers from a differentHRIS software.
To stop a cost center sync:
Step 1. Go to Organization Settings, locate the Entities card, and click View.
Step 2. Select the entity you want to set up the sync for, then go to the Global Payroll tab.
Step 3. In the Cost centers card, click the ellipsis (three dots) and select Stop Sync.
Step 4. On the modal Do you want to stop syncing cost centers?, click Yes, stop sync.
The cost center sync is stopped and no new cost center information will be synced to Deel.
