You can create a worker profile even if you don’t yet have all the information needed to create a full contract. This allows you to get started with adding worker details, manage their information centrally, and optionally invite them to Deel at your convenience.

Getting Started with a Worker Profile Without a Contract
The Person Without a Contract worker profile allows you to use Deel’s standalone products without requiring Deel HR, payroll, or Contract management. These workers can access products like:

Minimal Data Entry for Quick Onboarding
To create a Person Without a Contract, only a few mandatory fields are required,making it simple to onboard these workers quickly:

Group (which team or unit the worker belongs to)

Entity (which company entity they are associated with)

Personal email
-
First legal name
- Last legal name
Creating a Worker Profile Without a Contract
✅ Step 1 – Navigate to Add People
In the left sidebar, select People to expand its submenu.

Select Directory in the expanded People submenu.

On the Directory page, click Add people in the upper-right corner.

Choose Add one person at the top of the menu. Do not select contract-specific options such as Individual contractor or EOR employee, and do not select Add multiple people.

✅ Step 2 – Add Worker Details
Allow the Add a person form to load. Confirm that it includes fields for legal first name, legal last name, personal email address, country, and contract type.

If you are continuing to create the profile, fill in the worker’s details, including their personal details, team information, workplace details, organization structure, and agreement details.
✅ Step 3 – Add Contract Extras (Optional)
Clients can also include additional benefits such as equipments, equity grants and enable background checks for the worker.
This helps ensure that once the contract is ready, most of the required information is already set up.
✅ Step 4 – Review and Create Profile
The client should review all the details entered and then click on Create Profile.
After the profile is created, the client has the following options for inviting the worker to Deel:

Inviting immediately

Scheduling an invite for later

Inviting them at a future time
Adding a Contract to a Worker Profile
When the client is ready to activate the worker, they can create a contract for the profile.
✅ Step 1 – Select the Worker
In the left sidebar, select People to expand its submenu, then select Directory. Select the worker’s name from the list. Use the available search or filter controls to locate the correct worker, if needed.

✅ Step 2 – Create a Contract
In the worker profile’s left-side navigation, select Contracts.

On the Contracts page, select the three-dot More actions menu in the upper-right corner.

Select Create a contract. Do not select Schedule termination.

Confirm that the Which contract do you want to add? screen appears and that options such as Employee and Contractor are available. The worker’s available details may be prefilled. Do not choose an option or select Continue if you only need to reach the contract-type selection screen.

You can view all invited profiles directly in the Onboarding Tracker. Once you send an invitation, the worker will appear in the tracker with their onboarding status. From here, you can:

Manage and resend invitations if needed.
The Onboarding Tracker is the single place to manage invitations and monitor the onboarding journey for all worker types.

Yes! You can enable time off for your workers without a contract and assign time off policies to them. To do this, make sure their worker details are filled in, including:
- Start date (used for calculating time off accruals)
- Country (to assign policies based on their work location)
Once a time off policy is assigned, workers can submit time off requests, which you can review and approve.
As a client, you also have the option to add time off on their behalf.
