Deel offers a Mass Upload feature specifically designed to simplify bulk employee file migration. With this functionality, clients can upload a single folder containing multiple documents. Our system will automatically identify and match each file to the correct worker profile based on the file naming conventions (either worker email address or full name).
This article will guide clients through how to use Deel’s Mass Upload feature to migrate employee files from your previous HRIS.
How to Bulk Import Files Into Worker Profiles
✅ Step 1 - Open Custom Documents
From the homepage, select the People icon, followed by the Documents option, and click the Custom Documents tab.
✅ Step 2 - Click to bulk upload files
Within the Custom Documents tab, click the three vertical dots beside Add Document and select the option Bulk upload files.
✅ Step 3 - Share the files
Note: Please ensure that all files are correctly named before uploading.
- All files must be in folders
- All folders must be named after the worker's email address
- Not more than 80 files per worker
During the upload flow, clients will be able to view an example of the expected folder structure.
✅ Step 4 - Assign the files to workers
Once the files are uploaded, clients can review them and assign or reassign each file to the correct worker profile.
- The system will automatically attempt to match files with workers based on their folder names
- If there are multiple matches, clients will see a warning (“Multiple workers found – please verify assignment”) and can manually confirm.
- If there is no match, the folder will show as unassigned and must be linked manually.
Click Continue to start the upload process.
✅ Step 5 - Complete the upload
Clients must keep the page open and wait for the upload to complete. They can track progress on the documents table, which may take a few seconds to a few minutes, depending on the upload size.
After the upload is complete, clients can access the files through the worker’s profile in the Documents tab.
