Review and enable the available features:
Status and DND updates: Automatically sets your Slack status and “Do Not Disturb” when you’re on leave
Auto-responder: Sends automatic replies in Slack channels when you’re tagged during time off
Who’s Away digest: Posts summaries of who’s currently out
These options help your team stay coordinated while respecting time away from work.
Set up Time Off policies
Before team members can request leave, a time-off policy must be created and assigned.
To set up Time Off policies:
Go to Org Settings > Time Off > Policies, then click Add new policy.
On the Select a time off policy page, filter existing policies by status, type, or country.
Select a policy and click Activate policy.
On the activated policy details page, go to the Assignment card and click Assign.
On the Assign workers page, choose assignment criteria and click Continue.
Review assigned workers or add exceptions, then click Save.
Once assigned, workers will see their time-off balance and can submit requests directly in Slack or Deel.
Activate the Approvals plugin
The Approvals plugin lets managers review, approve, or reject requests—such as time off—without leaving Slack.
To activate the Approvals plugin:
In Deel, go to App > Deel Plugins > Deel for Slack.
On the Approvals plugin card, click Go to installation.
In the Install Approvals modal, click Connect.
After installation, the Approvals app will appear as an active plugin. You can now configure approval policies.
Configure Approval policies
Approval policies define who reviews requests and in what order.
To configure Approval policies:
In the Deel for Slack plugin, under Requests needing your attention, click the setup link. (Alternatively, open the activated Approvals plugin and click Settings.)
View the list of all active policies under the Notifications card.
Turn on the desired policies and click Apply.
Once activated, approval requests will automatically notify approvers in Slack. Approvers can review details, approve, or deny requests directly from Slack messages.
