What is a compensation band?
A compensation band generally refers to the range of pay established for specific job profiles (e.g., Senior Software Engineer), job levels (e.g., P4 or IC-4), compensation types (e.g., Salary, Equity), locations (e.g., New York, Paris), and currencies (e.g., USD, EUR)
Compensation Bands are also known as compensation ranges, pay bands, or pay ranges. They are a key component of a company's compensation program, and help define a company's willingness to pay for a job profile in a given location and currency.
While most companies use three band points (Min/Midpoint/Max), other companies have even more complex ways to define their compensation bands using additional bandpoints.
The compensation band profile refers to the specific profile of a compensation band, which is the combination of a job profile plus a given location (e.g., Senior Software Engineer P4 in US Tier 1 , or Enterprise Account Executive IC-5 in Europe High Cost
Assigning workers to a compensation band:
Workers will be automatically assigned to a compensation band when the following three criteria are met:
1 - The worker is assigned to a specific geographical sub-market
2 - The worker’s worker type is assigned to the market they are assigned to (e.g. EOR employee or Direct Employee).
3 - The worker is assigned a Job Profile
If a compensation band is missing band points :
Select the Compensation icon > Compensation Bands tab > Compensation Bands
Click the three-dots action menu at the end of the band, and click edit
Fill in missing data points, such as a missing min, mid, or max point
How to add a job profile to a worker :
1 - Click on Organization Settings
2 - Click Settings in the left-hand menu, then select Job Architecture
3 - Select the Worker job profile assignments tab
You can manually search for a worker or filter by assigned or unassigned workers. This is also referred to as 'leveling' employees.
4- Add a worker to a job profile
You can individually add workers to existing job profiles, or click Bulk assign workers
How to assign a worker to a sub-market:
1- Click on the Compensation icon, then select the Compensation Bands tab
2- Select markets and sub-markets tab
3- Click edit workers
Filter by country, city, job family, or more
4 - Select the worker(s) and click Add to sub-market

[ACCORDION] Can I limit the compensation band information that managers see during a cycle?
Yes, client admins can create and assign access policies to show as much or as little comp band information as desired.
Organization Admins and Compensation Management Admins can create up to 8 access policies to assign managers to.
Go to Org Settings >Settings > Deel Compensation > Compensation Band Access Policies > add access policy
Creating access policies enable visibility of compa ratio, new band position, and salary bands for direct and indirect reports in active comp cycles, based on a combination of the manager's scope across Markets and Job architecture (For example: one policy allows managers to see the Job profiles of the direct and indirect reports on their team)
[ACCORDION] How do I bulk assign workers to a job profile?
To bulk assign workers to job profiles - also known as bulk leveling - please follow these steps:
1 - Click Settings in the left-hand menu, then select Job Architecture
2 - Select the Worker job profile assignments tab
3 - Click Export workers
You will need to upload worker data using the CSV file. In the employee job profile field column, you will need to type in the job profile assignment for all employees.
Make sure all workers in the CSV file are assigned a profile. assigned a profile.
4 - Click the Bulk Assign workers button
5 - Upload the edited CSV file
Follow the on-screen prompts to validate column mapping and validate data
