Setup
- Go to IT > Software Management in your admin panel
- You'll see a banner: "Connect an identity provider to unlock app discovery and usage insights". Click Connect identity provider on the banner, or
- Click the three-dot menu (top right) and select Add identity provider
- Select your Identity Provider.
- Click "Add".
- If you have the required SKU or license, you'll be redirected to your Identity Provider's setup page. Follow the steps to establish the connection.
- If you do not have the required SKU or license, an upgrade gate appears showing what you need to purchase. You will usually be prompted to book a call with a sales representative.
You can close this dialog and continue using manual entry or CSV import in the meantime. You can always upgrade later to unlock Identity Provider connection.
First Sync
After connecting an Identity Provider, a "Pending synchronization" banner appears while Deel syncs your applications and user data. This typically takes a few minutes. The system will:
- Discover all apps from your Identity Provider's login records
- Sync all users and their login activity (last 90 days)
- Generate initial AI insights
Once the sync completes, the banner disappears and your Overview page populates with data. Applications discovered by your Identity Provider appear in the "Apps to review" section of the Applications tab.
IdP Disconnection
If you disconnect your IdP integration (Google Workspace or JumpCloud) but keep Software Management active:
- The Software Management feature continues to work
- Previously discovered applications still appear in your Applications tab
- However, you lose access to paid features and revert to the free version only:
- No automatic app discovery
- No real-time user activity and login tracking
- No AI-powered optimization insights
- Manual entry and CSV import only
To restore paid features, you’ll need to reconnect your IdP or upgrade your plan. Contact your sales rep or CSM for assistance with billing transfer or license upgrades.
