Deel IT's Software Management Dashboard gives IT admins a single place to track, manage, and gain visibility into all the software applications your organization uses, including renewal dates, contract costs, user activity, and opportunities to optimize your software spend.
When you first access Software Management, you'll choose how to onboard your applications.
Follow the How to get started with Software Management guide first to set up your applications. Once they’re set up, you’ll see the Software Management Dashboard.

Who can use Software Management?
Software Management is available to organization admins across all Deel IT plans. If your organization uses Deel IT, you can access Software Management in the admin panel under IT > Software Management.
Overview
The Overview page displays key insights into your software portfolio.
AI-powered inventory insights
Up to 5 prioritized, plain-language insights appear at the top of the Overview page. Insights may include unused applications (apps unused in 90 days), app overlaps (similar tools in use), trending usage (rising/falling adoption), and contract optimization opportunities based on your usage patterns.
Low-confidence insights are automatically hidden. An empty state is normal and indicates no actionable insights at the moment. Insights are informational only. No automatic actions are taken.
Most and least used apps
A quick snapshot of your top-used and bottom-used applications based on login activity over the past 90 days.
Upcoming renewals
A summary of applications coming up for renewal in the next 30 days. Click "View all renewals" to go to the Applications tab for the full calendar.
Applications tab
The Applications tab shows all discovered (or manually added) applications in your organization. You'll see four status categories displayed at the top:
- Apps to review: Applications discovered by your Identity Provider that haven't been reviewed yet.
- Approved: Applications you've reviewed and confirmed as managed.
- Ignored: Applications you've marked as not relevant to track.
- Total: All applications (to review + approved + ignored).
The applications list displays the following columns:
- Name: The application name with icon
- Owner: Who's responsible for this application
- Department: Assigned department (if any)
- Next renewal: When the contract renews, with inline + Add renewal date link if missing
- Actions: Edit button for manually added apps, Review button for IdP-discovered apps, plus a three-dot menu
At the top right of the Applications tab, there's a Manage applications dropdown menu with options to:
- Import: Bulk upload applications via CSV
- Add: Manually add a single application
- Purchase: Request to buy software for your team (directs to Deel IT Catalog)
You can filter the applications list by Owner and Department, and use Configure columns to show or hide fields.
Renewal behavior
Auto-renewing applications (Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly) never show as "overdue." The system automatically advances the renewal date to the next occurrence on the backend each night. Non-auto-renewing applications ("Does Not Renew Automatically") show as "expired" with a warning once the renewal date passes.
Users tab (IdP-connected organizations only)
If your organization hasn't connected an Identity Provider yet, you'll see a banner on the Applications tab that says: "Connect an identity provider to unlock app discovery and usage insights." This banner has a "Connect identity provider" button. Learn more in How to connect your Identity Provider.
The Users tab displays all identities from your connected Identity Provider. You can see their status (active if logged in within 90 days, otherwise inactive), which applications they use, and where they're active.
The system flags inactive identities as potential cost-saving opportunities and offboarded-but-active users as security issues. Learn more: How to view user activity.
Notifications
Software Management sends renewal and expiry reminders to help you never miss an important contract date. Learn more: How to configure notifications.
Identity Provider management
All Identity Provider connection and disconnection controls are managed via the Integrations page in your admin panel, not within Software Management itself. Software Management displays which Identity Provider is currently active and links you to Integrations to manage it. Learn more: How to connect your Identity Provider
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Software Management SKU?
No, if you're using manual entry or CSV import. These are free tiers. However, to connect Google Workspace as your Identity Provider, you'll need the Software Management SKU ($10 PEPM for eligible monthly paid workers). JumpCloud requires Deel IT Platform Prime.
Which identity providers are supported?
Currently, Software Management supports Google Workspace and JumpCloud. Entra ID and Okta support are planned for future releases.
Can I attach multiple documents to a single application?
Yes. You can upload contracts, invoices, amendments, or any other relevant documents. Multiple files can be attached per application.
How often is user activity data refreshed?
User activity and login data are synced daily from your Identity Provider. The "last login" timestamps reflect activity from the past 90 days.
What happens if I don't renew an application?
Software Management tracks renewal dates so you can plan accordingly. If an application isn't renewed and its contract ends, mark it as "inactive" in the system so it's no longer tracked. You can always re-add it later if needed.
Can I export my applications list?
Application data can be viewed and filtered within Software Management. For bulk reporting or external use, contact your Deel IT representative.
What if I want to manage applications without connecting my Identity Provider?
You can use the manual entry or CSV import methods to track applications, renewals, and contract costs. However, you won't see user activity or usage metrics without an Identity Provider connection. You'll have to estimate active users yourself.
