Navigating the Time Off by Deel Plugin
There are three main tabs on the app: Home, Messages, and About.
All PTO features can be accessed from the Home tab.
Simply open the app and select the Home tab at the top of the screen
If you select the dropdown menu, you’ll be able to adjust your view by selecting different items.
You can select:
- Your Events to review upcoming holidays and OOO time
- Who's Out? to see who is OOO in the organization
- OOO History to see your used OOO time
- Holidays to review holiday dates
How to Request Out of Office (OOO) time
✅ Step 1 – Create OOO
From the Home tab of the app, click the +Create OOO button
✅ Step 2 – Fill out OOO details
Fill in the details of your OOO event, including the type of time off and the dates.
Click Submit.
Depending on your company's settings, the request can be instantly approved or forwarded to your direct manager for review and approval.
✅ Step 3 – Delegate tasks
Before the OOO event begins, you can delegate tasks and assignments to other co-workers, with a personalized note.
This will be included as part of the away message that will appear when co-workers tag you in Slack discussions while you’re OOO.
If you don't delegate your work, then your manager will be listed as an emergency point of contact covering “All urgent matters” only.
How to edit or cancel an Out of Office (OOO)
✅ Step 1 – Select the Your Events view
From the dropdown menu on the Home tab, click Your Events
✅ Step 2 – Select OOO event you want to modify
You will see a list of upcoming or current OOO events.
Select the [...] button next to the event you’d like to modify.
If the event is scheduled for a future date, you can edit or remove it.
If the event is currently happening, you can do click “I’m back!” and end the OOO immediately.
If the event has already concluded, only an admin can modify it, since you can't edit it from the Your Events view.
How To See Who Is OOO In Your Company
✅ Step 1 – Select the Your Events view
From the dropdown menu on the Home tab, click Who's Out?
✅ Step 2 – Customize the currently OOO view
Click New Search and begin filtering the users you want to see regarding active absences.
You can choose the entire company, a specific channel or usergroup, or a specific set of co-workers.
✅ Step 3 – Review list
Google / Outlook Calendar Sync
Deel Plugins allows you to sync out of office (OOO) events with your personal and team calendars.
You will be asked to sync your calendar each time you create an OOO.
You can also proactively do this by selecting Settings>Calendar Sync on the dropdown menu.
Automatically Update Slack Status and Snooze Notifications During OOO
Deel PTO plugin can automatically set your OOO status in Slack and apply “Do Not Disturb” settings while you’re away.
You must individually grant the app permission to do this.
Deel Plugins will ask you to grant permission to do this each time you have an upcoming OOO event.
You can also proactively do this by selecting Settings>Slack on the dropdown menu.
Delegate Tasks During Your OOO Time
Deel PTO plugin allows you to set roles and tasks for co-workers while you’re away.
This will be included as part of the away message that will appear when co-workers tag you in Slack discussions while you’re OOO.
How to delegate coverage during your OOO:
Deel PTO plugin will ask you to to delegate responsibility when you have an upcoming OOO.
You can also proactively do this by selecting Your Events on the dropdown menu, clicking the [...] button next to the event, and clicking Assign Roles.
Assign roles to your co-workers, and provide as much specific detail as necessary.
You can see the assignments you've designated during your OOO time, and your co-workers have accepted the role.
