This article explains how clients and independent contractors can submit work to clients for payment for Pay As You Go and Milestone contracts.

The permission to submit work is set from client accounts. For independent contractors who cannot submit work to clients for payment, please reach out to the client.

Contractors on Fixed Rate contracts do not need to manually submit work for approval, as invoices are automatically generated based on the contract details. However, it is possible to add adjustments like expenses and overtime by selecting Add Item.

Submitting Work With a Pay As You Go Contract

Per Task PAYG Contract

If a contractor has a Per Task contract with their client where the variable rate depends on the tasks, they can simply follow these steps to add their worked hours.

✅ Step 1 – Select the Workspace Icon and Click on Contracts Tab

In the Contracts page, select the applicable contract. 

✅ Step 2 – Submit Hours

In the Contract Overview page, Contractors can submit their hours in the Submit Hours section.

They can also attach any files if needed and click on Submit Hours.

If the client enabled the Only Client Can Submit Work option during the contract creation, then there will be no submit hours section visible. The client will be responsible for submitting hours.

Hourly Base PAYG Contract

For contractors that have an hourly base contract with their clients, follow these steps to add worked hours. 

✅ Step 1 – Select the Contract Overview tab

On the homepage, select the Workspace icon and click on the Time Tracking tab.

Alternatively, in the Quick Access card on the homepage, click on Add Worked Hours to submit work submissions to the contracts. 

✅ Step 2 – Add Worked Hours 

If there are multiple hourly contracts select the applicable contract and add the worked hours.

Submitting Work With a Milestone Contract

When a milestone is completed, it can be marked as completed from the Contracts page.

Deel will generate an invoice and forward it to the client for approval.

Adjustments cannot be added to Milestone contracts.

Contractors can also add their own milestones to a contract by clicking Add A Milestone on the Overview tab.

Add a description of the work and a name for the milestone, then add the payment amount to be requested.

Milestones can only be paid once completed and approved.
