This article explains how to assign and automate Deel Learning journeys.
For any step/ section created in a journey, these three things need to be defined:
1. Recipients: Who should be assigned?
2. Due date: When is the assignment due?
3. Notifications: How should those assigned be informed?
Who can be assigned a Journey?
a. The Assignee: the team member a journey is assigned to.
b. A specific role: all employees with a Deel account. Not directly related to the assignee and will be shown as a dropdown of all the organization's employees.
c. A dynamic role: currently only one type is supported: Direct Managers. Deel takes the relation of who is a team member's manager from the integrated HR system or those specified on the people page.
Before you begin
- Must be a Deel Engage admin.
- Must have Deel Engage enabled on organization.

How to assign Deel Learning journeys
After creating a Deel Learning journey, the next step is to assign and automate it. To do that:
✅ Step 1 - Open the desired journey
On the all journeys page, select the desired journey to open it up and click on the open in editor button to reveal the assigning settings.
✅ Step 2 - Assign step or section
Assigning settings will be on the right navigation panel. Assign each step/section to either an assignee, specific person or dynamic role (see the definition of each role above).
This can also be done from the main Deel Learning dashboard. On the Assignment page, use the assign button to assign published journeys to individual or bulk assign multiple employees.
Assign in the future
Choosing to schedule a journey assignment to the future, will require choosing the exact date, time and time zone when the journey will be available to employees. The client can be chosen from the calendar, while time is required in the form HH:MM a:a - meaning hour, minute and then AM or PM.
✅ Step 3 - Set due date
Due dates can be set by indicating a specific number of days, weeks, months or years from the moment the journey gets delivered and unlocked to the main assignee. For every step, choose whether to send reminder on due date and the interval within which to repeat reminder until done.
✅ Step 4 - Notify assignees
Choose to notify assignees about a journey assigned to them via mail with an option to define the content of that mail.Assignees will then receive a notification prompting them to complete their tasks. This notification will direct them to their Deel Learning dashboard, where they can see all open and incomplete tasks.
How to automate Deel Learning Journeys
When journeys get assigned can be automated, for example, new joiners can be assigned to an onboarding journey on their start date. To do this:
✅ Step 1 - Navigate to Automation tab on the main Deel Learning dashboard, from where new automations can be set up and active ones deactivated.
✅ Step 2 - Choosing only from the published journeys, select the audience, i.e. this journey can be relevant for just one group of employees or for the whole company.
Currently Deel only allows date-based triggers, meaning on, before or after 2 events - start date and termination.
Tracking Journeys with Analytics
In the assignment tab, admins can see all journeys assigned to employees, their status, start date, due dates, view details, unassign and manually send reminders. On top of that are some basic analytics, such as number of assignments, percentage of step completion, percentage of task completion and quiz statistics.
