This article explains how PEO clients in the U.S. can rehire a previously terminated employee using their existing profile. This process helps reduce manual work, streamline onboarding, and ensure a smoother rehiring process by leveraging the original employee record.

Rehire the terminated contract
✅ Step 1 – Go to People
Click the People icon and select the people tab to view a list of your employees.
✅ Step 2 – Filter by inactive employees
In the All People list, use filters to locate the terminated employee.
Please note that you can select the Inactive filter to find previously terminated profiles.
✅ Step 3 – View the ended contract
Click on the employee’s name to open their profile. Scroll to the Contract section and click Create contract.
✅ Step 4 – Add a new contract
Select Employee
Choose PEO Employee (USA only)
Most of the previous contract and personal information will be pre-filled from the inactive profile.
You can edit, update, or add new details as needed.
Onboarding requirements: Depending on how long the employee has been away, Deel may request updated documents to support re-onboarding.
Documents and signature status will be refreshed as part of the new contract process.

Most information from the terminated contract will auto-fill into the new one, which you can then edit.

Yes. The employee must go through the onboarding process again, but may not need to re-submit all documents.
