This article explains what Third-Party Administrator (TPA) access is and how to grant Deel access to your state tax accounts where required.
Some state agencies require you to explicitly authorize Deel as a third party before Deel can file, pay, or manage tax-related actions on your behalf.

What is a TPA?
A Third-Party Administrator (TPA) authorization allows a payroll provider to act on your behalf when interacting with federal or state tax agencies.
This includes logging into your agency account online to file returns, make payments, and access account information.
Why is TPA access required?
Some government agencies require payroll providers to have TPA access before they can:
File tax returns
Make tax payments
Submit wage data
View notices or account details
TPA access is essentially an electronic version of a Power of Attorney (POA). While not required for every agency, Deel must obtain TPA access wherever available to fully support payroll and tax compliance.
How to grant TPA access to Deel
For certain taxes, you must complete specific steps in the relevant state portal to grant Deel TPA access. Below are step-by-step instructions by state and tax type.
