When Contractors withdraw money on Deel, we use a Dynamic ETA to provide them the best possible estimate for when the money will reach their account.
The contractor will see their ETA and additional in-app updates from the Withdrawal Tracker, so they'll always be able to stay on top of their money until they receive it.
In this article:
When will my money arrive in my bank account?
What does Dynamic ETA mean?
The estimated withdrawal ETA depends on factors such as the withdrawal currency and method, with each method having specific clearing times. Deel uses these details at the start of the withdrawal process to calculate when the funds should reach the contractor's bank account.
Please note that most payment providers, especially banks, do not process payments on weekends and public holidays.
These estimated times are best guesses and can be affected by additional reviews or requests for information at the discretion of payment providers.
When will the money arrive in the bank account?
Withdrawals are expected to arrive on the date displayed on the platform but may take an additional business day or two due to bank processing, compliance checks, and other factors.
To avoid delays, contractors should ensure their names and account numbers are correct before initiating a withdrawal.
If there are errors in the destination details or if the withdrawal is rejected by the bank, the tracker will not update until Deel receives the funds back.
Please note that Deel can't speed up the refund process, as it's controlled by the sending bank.
Frequently Asked Questions
[ACCORDION] What information is included as part of withdrawal tracker?
The withdrawal tracker provides a clear visual timeline of each stage of the payment lifecycle, from the moment contractors initiate the withdrawal to when the funds are expected to arrive in their bank account.
Deel uses Dynamic ETA to calculate the best possible estimate for the funds' arrival.
The pre-calculated estimate automatically updates for banking holidays, unexpected delays, provider outages, or requests for additional information.
Please note that if there are errors in the destination details or if the withdrawal attempt is rejected by the bank, the tracker won’t be updated until Deel actually receives the money back.
[ACCORDION] Can I cancel my withdrawal?
Once the withdrawal transfer has been processed by our provider, unfortunately we cannot cancel and refund the withdrawal.
However, if the account details are incorrect or the account is closed, please wait 3-5 business days for the transfer to bounce back from your bank.
Please note that we can't do much to speed up this refund process, since it all depends on the contractor's bank.
[ACCORDION] How do national holidays affect withdrawal ETA?
Deel's Dynamic ETA and in-app Withdrawal Tracker automatically account for national banking holidays when estimating arrival times.
Generally, if there is a national holiday in the contractor's bank's country or an intermediary bank's country, the arrival time may be delayed by 1 or 2 business days.
Please note that most payment providers, especially banks, do not process payments on weekends and public holidays.
[ACCORDION] How can the bank trace the contractor's ACH withdrawal?
Deel provides a Trace ID for US dollar withdrawals in the US.
This unique code helps track the payment. Contractors can find it in the withdrawal statement they download from the Deel platform.
If the payment hasn't arrived on time, contractors should provide this Trace ID to their bank. It helps the bank track the payment and investigate the delay.
If contractors haven't received their payment, they should download the withdrawal statement from the Deel platform and provide it to their bank to facilitate further assistance.
[ACCORDION] How can the bank trace the contractor's SWIFT withdrawal?
Deel provides a UETR code to track payments through the SWIFT network.
Unlike a basic instruction (MT103), the UETR provides real-time updates, ensuring the bank always knows the payment's location. This code is available under Withdrawal Details and in the withdrawal statement.
Contractors should provide the UETR code to their bank to track the payment and its status.
[ACCORDION] What does provider delay mean?
Deel's provider may experience delays in processing withdrawals. The expected arrival date on the platform is updated to reflect the current status.
The provider is working to resolve the issue promptly.
Contractors will receive a notification once their payment is processed.
[ACCORDION] What does additional checks mean?
When contractors withdraw funds, Deel's payment providers may conduct additional checks to ensure the funds' security. This standard procedure may add extra time to the withdrawal process.
While Deel understands the desire to resolve issues quickly, it cannot expedite this process.
[ACCORDION] What should be done if the money is not received and the estimated arrival date has passed?
If contractors haven't received their money yet, they should first check their accounts to verify that their name, account number, and other details are correct.
They should then download a PDF statement containing withdrawal details and provide it to their bank. If the statement includes a Trace ID, the bank can use it to investigate the delay.
If the account information is incorrect, the refund process takes 3-5 business days. Deel cannot hasten this process, as it is managed by the contractor's bank.
If the estimated arrival time shown on the Withdrawal Tracker has passed, contractors should schedule a call with a Deel Support agent to address their delayed withdrawal issue.
Please have a bank statement between the dates when the withdrawal was initiated until the last day of the ETA.
[ACCORDION] The payment was rejected by the bank, but the money hasn't been received yet. What should contractors do?
If the bank rejects the payment and returns the money to Deel, contractors should wait 3-4 business days for the refund to appear in their Deel account.
If contractors do not see the refund after 5 business days, they should first obtain written confirmation of the rejection from their bank. This confirmation should include details such as the date, amount, reason, and transaction reference number. Providing this information will help Deel investigate the whereabouts of the funds.
Please note that Deel cannot expedite the refund process, as it depends on the contractor's bank.
[ACCORDION] Why did the withdrawal fail?
The reason for a withdrawal failure is typically indicated on the platform if provided by the provider.
To ensure a smooth withdrawal process in the future, contractors should keep their withdrawal information up to date.
