There are a few reasons why your transaction may have been declined when using your Deel Card.
In most cases, you will be notified via email and in your transaction history. In other cases, you may only receive a notification from the merchant at the time of purchase.
First, check if you received an email or if you can see the declined transaction in your transaction history (it can take a couple minutes!)
If yes, then the reason may be:
You do not have enough funds in your Deel Card wallet
When using your Deel Card, you need to have enough available funds to complete the transaction. To check your balance, log in to your Deel account and check your Card wallet balance at the bottom of the home page or in the Deel Card tab.
You have reached your spending limit
For security reasons, there are some transaction limits to Deel cards, such as wallet maximum balance and per transaction limits. You can read about them in detail here.
The merchant category is restricted
Due to our card issuer's and network requirements, there are certain merchant categories that the Deel Card cannot be used for. Please see the full list of restricted categories here.
The information you provided to the merchant does not match
When filling out the information to confirm a purchase, make sure that the information you input exactly matches the information registered to your Deel Card. You can check the expiration date, CVV, card number and billing address in your Deel account.
The transaction was declined for security reasons
In these cases, either Deel or the card issuer can reserve the right to not process a transaction under the suspicion of a security breach.
Your card is frozen / terminated
When your card is frozen, no transactions can be made with it. You may unfreeze your card at any time through your Deel account.
If your card has been terminated, no transactions can be made with it. This is a permanent action that cannot be reversed.
If you aren’t seeing an email or a declined transaction in your history, the issue might be:
The merchant does not accept debit cards
The Deel Card is a debit card, not a credit card. Some online merchants do not accept debit cards as a payment method for certain transactions.
The merchant does not accept your Deel Card's network
The Deel Card operates on the Visa or Mastercard network, depending on your region, so you can use your card wherever Visa or Mastercard are accepted.
The transaction was blocked by the merchant or the network's screening processes
Sometimes, the Deel Card may not be compatible with the merchant’s payment system setup. Alternatively, the transaction may not have passed the network's screening requirements.
Merchant does not accept cross-border transactions
Certain merchants do not allow transactions if the card issuer country is not the same as the country of the merchant of the transaction. The issuer country of the Deel Card is Singapore; transactions would be declined if said configuration applies on the merchant level.
You are trying to make an ATM withdrawal
We do not support ATM withdrawals at the moment. Check out this article to see if you can connect your Deel Card to a money wallet instead.
