This article explains how clients can use Agentic workflows to automate repetitive tasks and communication across their organization. Workflows can automate actions such as sending emails, posting to Slack, assigning tasks, and other workflow steps without coding.
Deel automations now live under Apps & Automation → Agentic Workflows, which includes both Legacy Workflows (described in this article) and the newer Agentic Workflows that can run AI agent steps. Both use the same triggers, conditions, and actions.
- New to building workflows? See the Trigger, Condition, and Action Glossary for what each option does.
- Existing (legacy) workflows keep running with no disruption. No action needed. Learn more in What Are Agentic Workflows?
Before you begin
You must be:
- A client with permission to view and create workflows in Apps & Automation.
- Have access to the left navigation sidebar in Deel.
If Apps & Automation or Agentic workflows are unavailable, contact your Deel administrator to request access.
✅ Step 1 – Open Agentic workflows
In the left sidebar, click Apps & Automation to expand its submenu. Select Agentic workflows.
Agentic workflows is the current name for the workflow automation area previously referred to as Automations.
✅ Step 2 – Create a new workflow
On the Agentic Workflows page, click Create new in the upper-right corner. A Create new button may also appear in an introductory panel.
Selecting Create new opens a blank workflow directly; a separate Start from scratch template option does not appear.
✅ Step 3 – Review the blank workflow canvas
A blank workflow canvas opens:
- Confirm that you can see a Workflow name field at the top.
- Confirm that you can see a central Trigger card marked Configuration incomplete.
- Confirm that you can see the workflow toolbar on the left, with options such as Action, AI Agent, Human review, Filter, and Delay.
✅ Step 4 – Open the Add trigger panel
Click the central Trigger card. The card is the current equivalent of the former Add Trigger control.
✅ Step 5 – Add an action event
After configuring the trigger, select what should happen next. Depending on the available options for your workflow, you can add actions such as sending an email, sending a Slack message, or creating a task.
- Use filters to target specific groups by location, worker type, department, or other criteria.
- Add delays to build multi-step sequences.
- Use the workflow toolbar to add other supported steps, such as AI Agent, Human review, or Filter, where needed.
✅ Step 6 – Add a branch (optional)
Add a filter or conditional path to create different outcomes within the same workflow when criteria are met.
✅ Step 7 – Confirm workflow actions
Configure the fields required for each action. For example:
- For Email, enter recipients, a subject, and a message body.
- For Slack, compose the message and select a channel.
- For Task, enter the title, details, and assignee.
When the workflow is fully configured, enter a workflow name and use Save as draft or Save and publish, as appropriate.
Frequently Asked Questions

[ACCORDION] How can workflows be duplicated?
Click the three dots (•••) next to any existing workflow and select Duplicate. Edit the copied workflow as needed.
[ACCORDION] Is there a limit to how many workflows I can create?
No. There are no limits to how many automated workflows can be created in Agentic workflows.
